Mississippi Highway Patrol reports one fatal crash during New Year’s holiday period


Over the New Year’s holiday enforcement period, the Mississippi Highway Patrol reported issuing 3,038 citations and arresting 27 individuals for DUI. Additionally, 333 people were cited for seatbelt violations and 68 crashes were investigated, resulting in 21 injuries. Tragically, one fatal crash occurred in Union County, claiming the life of a 42-year-old from Tupelo. The enforcement period began on Tuesday morning, December 31st and ended on Wednesday night, January 1st.
