Former Nevada Politician Lynette Boggs-Perez Hired as Deputy City Attorney in Little Rock
The city of Little Rock has hired Lynette Boggs-Perez, a former rising star in Nevada politics, as the deputy city attorney. Boggs-Perez’s political career in Nevada came to a halt in 2007 after a scandal involving campaign fraud and a criminal conviction. However, she has since been hired by Little Rock city attorney Tom Carpenter and promoted to chief deputy city attorney, where she now earns a salary of $142,800.
Boggs-Perez’s legal troubles in Nevada stemmed from charges of perjury and filing false documents during a county election campaign in 2006. She pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor in relation to the case, which resulted in a fine and a later expungement of the conviction. Despite her past, Little Rock officials have not found any reason to prohibit her employment based on a standard background check.
In a recent statement, Boggs-Perez defended her qualifications for the position, citing her legal expertise and experience in various legal matters. She has previously served as an assistant city manager in Las Vegas and has a background in prosecuting criminal cases. Boggs-Perez has also authored a book about her experiences in Nevada, where she faced public humiliation and political downfall.
Despite her controversial past, Boggs-Perez’s hiring in Little Rock signals a second chance for the former Nevada politician. She has also served in various public roles in Texas and has been elected to positions within the education system.
