Israeli military forces evacuate hospital in Gaza under siege

The Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, one of northern Gaza’s last functioning hospitals, is facing a dire situation as Israeli forces have stormed inside and evacuated patients, health workers, and family members. The hospital’s operating and surgical departments, laboratory, maintenance, and emergency units have been completely burned, leading to a dangerous situation for patients inside. The fate of the staff and patients is now unknown as communication with the hospital director has been cut off. The attack on the hospital follows an Israeli airstrike that killed approximately 50 people, including medical staff. The Palestinian health ministry has reported that the three public hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip are now all out of service. The IDF has stated that they targeted the hospital based on information about terrorist activities inside and claim to have facilitated the evacuation of civilians, patients, and medical personnel before the operation. However, the United Nations has accused Israel of deliberately attacking medical facilities in Gaza, leading to devastating consequences for the civilian population. The war in Gaza, which began in response to Hamas terror attacks in 2023, has resulted in a significant number of casualties and widespread destruction of infrastructure, including the healthcare system. Israel’s actions have been condemned internationally for violating human rights and endangering the lives of civilians.
