Santa’s reindeer receive official Mississippi certification, granting Santa travel clearance.

The Mississippi Board of Animal Health (MBAH) has issued a certificate of veterinary inspection to Santa Claus, allowing his reindeer to enter the state on Christmas Eve to deliver gifts to good boys and girls. The State Veterinarian, Dr. James Watson, found all nine reindeer to be in perfect health, meeting all necessary requirements for entry. The MBAH works closely with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce and is housed in their headquarters in Jackson. In addition, the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has cleared Santa and his reindeer for all modes of travel in the state on Christmas Eve, ensuring their safety and compliance with regulations. MDOT executive director Brad White emphasized the importance of safety during holiday travel, encouraging everyone to follow safety guidelines. Santa also received reports on Mississippi drivers’ behavior and advised on how to improve road safety. Conditions for sleigh flight on Christmas Eve appear favorable, but motorists are reminded to drive slowly and be alert for Santa and his reindeer. Overall, both the MBAH and MDOT are ensuring that Santa’s visit to Mississippi is safe and seamless for everyone involved.
