Arkies in the Beltway, a weekly update on national politics with a focus on Arkansas, covered the last legislative push before the holidays. The Senate and House of Representatives worked on a stopgap funding package to prevent a government shutdown, which included $10 billion in economic assistance for farmers facing high input costs and declining farm incomes.
Rep. Bruce Westerman, R-Ark., saw two of his measures passed by the Senate and sent to President Joe Biden for approval. The bipartisan outdoor recreation package and legislation renaming the Kingsland post office after Johnny Cash were both supported by Westerman from Hot Springs.
As “Arkies in the Beltway” takes a holiday break, it will return in 2025 with new episodes covering the latest decisions and influential figures affecting Arkansas. For more Arkansas news, visit arkansasonline.com and follow Washington Correspondent Alex Thomas on social media.
