In a dominant performance, the No. 25 Mississippi Rebels women’s basketball team defeated Mississippi Valley State 78-44, led by Sira Thienou’s 18 points. The Rebels started strong, scoring the first 13 points of the game, and maintained control throughout. Thienou’s 13 first-half points helped them take a 36-24 lead at halftime, with contributions from Starr Jacobs and Madison Scott, who both scored 13 points each. The Rebels were able to extend their lead in the third quarter with impressive runs, ultimately finishing with a commanding 34-point victory.
On the defensive end, the Rebels outrebounded Mississippi Valley State 46-25, including 24 offensive boards that led to 22 second-chance points. The team’s dominance in the paint was also evident, outscoring their opponents 40-16 in that area. With this victory, the Rebels improved to an 8-3 record for the season.
Looking ahead, the Rebels will face Alcorn State at home on Dec. 20 before kicking off their Southeastern Conference play against Auburn on Jan. 2. This win sets the tone for the Rebels as they aim to continue their success in upcoming games.
