The Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library is hosting a series of family-friendly events this summer with the theme “Oceans of Possibilities.” Program Coordinator Elizabeth Jolly has planned various water-related activities for all ages, including boat safety lessons, shark presentations, and outdoor reading sessions at Bonita Lakes. The goal of these events is to inspire children to visit the library and continue reading throughout the summer, ultimately helping them prepare for the next school year in a fun and engaging way.

With over 2,000 attendees at the summer kick-off event, the library is expecting a successful season filled with exciting programs. The schedule for June and July includes activities such as casting seminars, movie screenings, visits from the Meridian Fire Department, a shark presentation from the University of Southern Mississippi, and an Outdoor Splash Explosion. These events aim to educate and entertain attendees while promoting a love for reading and exploration.

For more information on the summer reading program and daily events, interested individuals can contact the library at 601-693-6771.
