After the devastating fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the bells are ringing again for the first time. The reopening ceremony marks a significant moment in the cathedral’s history. Yanis Depocko, a social media influencer, attended the event alone, expressing the importance of being present.
President Trump, along with other world leaders, attended the ceremony. Notable figures, such as Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni, were also in attendance. The ceremony included key members of the restoration project, such as Philippe Jost and Philippe Villeneuve.
Despite the cold and rain, a large crowd gathered outside the cathedral to witness the reopening. The guest list included French elites, actors, and representatives from Paris parishes and charities. American carpenter Hank Silver, who assisted in the cathedral’s reconstruction, was among the invited guests.
As the reopening service began, Archbishop Laurent Ulrich led the rite of the opening of the doors to mark the cathedral’s “reawakening.” The ceremony included blessing the Great Organ and the singing of the Te Deum.
President Macron’s original plan for outdoor celebrations was moved indoors due to windy weather. The reopening of Notre Dame, five years after the fire, symbolizes a moment of resilience and hope for the future of the historic landmark.
