Aundrea Self Transitions from Broadcast Journalism to Director of Outreach at MSU College of Business
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Aundrea Self, a respected figure in Golden Triangle broadcast journalism, will leave WCBI-TV after 26 years to join the Mississippi State University (MSU) College of Business as its new Director of Outreach and Engagement starting January 2.
Self has had an illustrious career, holding various roles at WCBI, including anchor, producer, and host of "MidMorning with Aundrea." Throughout her time at the Columbus-based station, she garnered multiple Associated Press awards and was recognized for her contributions to evening news broadcasts and morning shows. In addition to her work at WCBI, Self served as an adjunct instructor in MSU’s Department of Communication, reflecting her deep roots in the Starkville community.
Scott Grawe, Dean of the College of Business, expressed enthusiasm about Self’s appointment, stating that her experience would enhance their outreach efforts, particularly in engaging alumni and promoting the Master of Business Administration program. “Her skills and experience will help us continue to spotlight our research and expertise throughout the business community,” said Grawe.
Originally from Starkville and a proud Starkville High School graduate, Self holds bachelor’s degrees in English and mass communication from Stillman College and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Alabama. Her excitement about joining the MSU family is evident as she describes this transition as fulfilling a lifelong destiny.
“Leaving what I’ve known and loved for the past 26 years is difficult, but I’m excited about this new chapter,” said Self. As she embarks on this new role, both the College of Business and the broader MSU community look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly bring.
