Mississippi State’s Albert Reese Honored with Kent Hull Award
STARKVILLE, MS – Mississippi State offensive lineman Albert Reese has experienced a standout year, achieving success both on and off the field. The redshirt junior from Canada has earned a regular starting position for the first time in his collegiate career and recently received the prestigious Kent Hull Award, recognizing him as the best offensive lineman in Mississippi.
After practice on Tuesday, Reese expressed his pride in receiving the award, highlighting the legacy of Kent Hull, a celebrated figure at Mississippi State. "It’s an absolute honor," said Reese. "I’m excited to do what he did."
Although the award was a surprise, Reese focused on helping his team rather than seeking accolades. Upon learning of his win from teammate Cyrus Reyes, he relayed his initial confusion. “I thought, ‘for what?’ It was nice to hear,” he noted. Reese’s ability to play various positions on the offensive line is a key asset for his future in the NFL.
On the team’s recent improvements in the run game, Reese attributed success to assignment clarity and experiential learning among the linemen. Looking ahead to the upcoming game against Missouri, he commended the strength of the opposing D-line, emphasizing the importance of team leadership: "Everybody is keeping their heads up and ready to work."
As the season nears its conclusion with the last home game approaching, Reese reflected on the bittersweet feeling of closing out the year at Davis Wade Stadium. He remains optimistic about the future, believing that hard work this offseason will lead to a turnaround for the program.
