The Ole Miss Rebels have their sights set on the College Football Playoff in 2024, but individual players are also gaining recognition as the regular season winds down. Wide receiver Tre Harris and kicker Caden Davis have been named semifinalists for the prestigious Biletnikoff and Lou Groza Awards, given to the top receiver and kicker in the nation.
Harris leads the Southeastern Conference in receiving yards with 987, ranking fifth in the FBS. Despite missing games due to injury, he has averaged 141.0 yards per game and has 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns in his career. Harris, a transfer from Louisiana Tech, quickly became a favorite target for quarterback Jaxson Dart last season.
Davis, a former transfer from Texas A&M, has been impressive this season, going 20-of-23 on field goal attempts with a strong record from long range. He is one of only four kickers in the nation with at least 20 field goals and has hit two from 50 yards or further, including a record-breaking 57-yarder against LSU.
Finalists for the Biletnikoff and Lou Groza Awards will be announced on Nov. 26, with the winners revealed live on ESPN during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 12. As the Rebels aim for postseason success, the individual recognition of Harris and Davis adds to the excitement surrounding the team.
