Mississippi Man Pleads Guilty to Civil Disorder Related to January 6 Capitol Attack
November 20, 2024 – WASHINGTON – Donald Walker, a 48-year-old resident of Kosciusko, Mississippi, has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of civil disorder stemming from his participation in the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Walker’s actions were part of a larger effort that interfered with Congress’s constitutional duty to certify the electoral votes of the 2020 presidential election.
During a court proceeding on November 19, 2024, U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly accepted Walker’s guilty plea. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10, 2025.
Evidence presented during the trial indicated that Walker was actively involved in the violent confrontation with law enforcement officers attempting to maintain order. Body camera footage depicted Walker locking his arm through a bike rack while taunting officers amidst a chaotic struggle to protect the Capitol. On two occasions, Walker grabbed onto a bike rack, interfering with the police line. After being sprayed with a chemical irritant, he briefly retreated but returned to the scene.
Walker subsequently forced his way into the Capitol building through the Parliamentarian Door, remaining inside for a few minutes before exiting. He was later arrested by the FBI on March 25, 2024, after an extended investigation involving multiple federal and local agencies.
The January 6 events have led to a total of over 1,561 individuals charged across the country, with more than 590 facing felony allegations of assault against law enforcement. The massive investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to seek information from the public to assist ongoing efforts.
