The latest national NBC News poll indicates that voters are less likely to support candidates who deny the results of the 2020 election or who support overturning Roe v. Wade. Instead, voters are more likely to back candidates who focus on addressing high costs, including proposals such as expanding domestic oil and natural gas production, implementing a $6,000 federal child tax credit, and taxing large corporations to control inflation. Economic policies seem to have the potential to influence voter behavior in the upcoming election, with proposals like implementing higher tariffs on goods from all countries being less popular.
On issues like immigration, voters are more likely to support candidates who advocate for deploying the military to the border to stop illegal drugs and human trafficking, as well as increasing deportations of undocumented immigrants. When it comes to abortion, a majority of voters support a federal law restoring a nationwide right to abortion, while opposition to the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade is strong among voters.
Overall, the poll shows a close race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, with both candidates receiving 48% support from voters. Trump is praised for handling the cost of living and immigration, while Harris is seen as more competent and representing change. The survey was conducted with 1,000 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
