The Dallas Cowboys suffered a humiliating 47-9 defeat at home against the Detroit Lions, marking their fourth consecutive home loss. The Lions got revenge for last season’s loss to the Cowboys, with quarterback Jared Goff leading the way with an impressive performance. The Cowboys’ defense was unable to stop the Lions, who dominated both through the air and on the ground.
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott struggled, throwing for only 178 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions before being benched in the fourth quarter. The loss dropped the Cowboys to third place in the NFC East, behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.
The Lions improved to 4-1 on the season, but are still behind the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North. Star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson suffered a serious injury during the game. The Cowboys will have a bye week before facing the San Francisco 49ers, while the Lions will take on the Vikings in Week 7.
Despite the disappointing loss, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated that he has not considered making a coaching change. Mike McCarthy’s job appears to be safe for now, despite the team’s struggles on the field.
