Iran cautions neighboring countries against aiding Israel in an attack

Iran has been urging its Arab neighbors not to allow Israel to use their airspace for potential retaliatory strikes following a ballistic missile attack last week. Iran warned that countries helping Israel in any way could potentially become part of a war. Despite fears in the region that Arab nations hosting U.S. bases and oil installations could become targets, it is unlikely any Arab nation would agree to allow their airspace to be used by Israel for a strike on Iran. Iran’s President and Foreign Minister have been seeking support from Gulf neighbors to temper an Israeli attack, with talks held in countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Iran has accused Israel of killing Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, leading to last week’s missile strike, while Israel vows to respond. President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu have agreed to remain in close contact, while Biden has cautioned against a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Fears of escalation are present as threats have been made to target oil facilities and American bases in the region if Iran is attacked. In the midst of this, there have been casualties in Lebanon and Gaza due to Israeli strikes. Both sides continue to engage in a tense situation with potential for further conflict.
