Jeff Sharp, a former detective with the Seattle Police Department’s gang unit, used to wonder why addicts kept going back to drugs. However, his perspective shifted drastically when his daughter Bailey was involved in two murders in California in 2016, resulting in her own brutal death. Bailey, who battled health issues and substance abuse since her teenage years, was lured into a murder plot by her then-boyfriend Jared Bischoff.
Bischoff, motivated by jealousy and rage, convinced Bailey to help him kill his ex-wife and her new partner in exchange for a share of a $100,000 life insurance policy. Bailey’s involvement in the murders came as a shock to her family, who had been trying to support her through her struggles with addiction.
The gruesome details of the murders, including Bailey’s brutal stabbing in broad daylight, left her parents grappling with the reality of their daughter’s actions. Despite the tragedy, Jeff and his wife Ericka are opening up about Bailey’s story in an effort to raise awareness about addiction and mental health challenges.
Through their painful journey, Jeff and Ericka have come to realize that addiction is a complex and insidious disorder that can overtake a person’s life. They no longer ask judgmental questions but strive to understand the underlying causes behind addictive behaviors. Despite the devastating loss of their daughter, the Sharps hope that sharing Bailey’s story will shed light on the struggles faced by individuals battling addiction and mental health issues.
