Kim Jong-un threatens to deploy nuclear weapons against the South in the event of an attack.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned that the country would not hesitate to use all available offensive forces, including nuclear weapons, if the enemy attempts to encroach on its sovereignty. Kim criticized South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol for threatening to end the North Korean regime at a military event, indicating that such comments were destroying regional security and peace. Kim emphasized that if an enemy attempted to use force against North Korea, they would use all offensive forces, including nuclear weapons. North Korea, officially known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), has a history of pursuing a nuclear weapons program and has conducted underground nuclear tests in the past.

In response to South Korea’s annual armed forces day parade, which included displays of military capabilities and a warning against the use of nuclear weapons, Kim remained defiant in his stance that the DPRK’s military strength and nuclear weapons are non-negotiable. Kim’s remarks were made at a training base for army special operation units and emphasized the country’s readiness to defend itself at any cost. Despite South Korea and the US alliance threatening overwhelming responses to any nuclear weapon use by North Korea, Kim remained steadfast in his position that their nuclear weapons will not be taken away.
