Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is pushing for the US to allow Ukraine to conduct long-range strikes inside Russia using US-supplied weapons. Zelenskyy, ahead of a trip to the US and the UN, is seeking support to end the war and strengthen Ukraine. He plans to present a “victory plan” while visiting a Pennsylvania ammunition factory producing munitions for Ukraine. Zelenskyy also emphasized the importance of Western allies providing weaponry and permission to use it, including hitting targets deep inside Russia to prevent air attacks.
Ukraine’s foreign minister has warned of potential strikes on Ukrainian nuclear facilities by Russia before winter and called for UN monitoring. Russia has refused to participate in a follow-up to a peace summit, labeling the process as “fraud”. Ukrainian forces have successfully hit Russian munitions depots, demonstrating their capacity to strike deep inside Russia.
Russian forces have retaliated by striking a residential building in Kharkiv, injuring several people, and launching missiles in Kryvyi Rih, killing three and damaging multiple buildings. Meanwhile, Iran has unveiled new ballistic missiles and drones, raising concerns about its involvement in arming Russia for the conflict. Zelenskyy’s efforts to secure support and arm Ukraine against Russian aggression continue amidst escalating tensions and deadly attacks on Ukrainian territory.
