Gilyard’s Player Rights Returned to Cleveland Charge in Hustle Trade – Confirmed by Spot On Mississippi

The Hustle, a G League team affiliated with the Memphis Grizzlies, has announced that they are trading the returning player rights of Markus Gilyard to the Cleveland Charge. Gilyard had previously played for the Charge during the 2020-2021 season. This trade gives Cleveland the exclusive rights to negotiate a contract with Gilyard should he decide to return to the G League.

Gilyard, a 24-year-old guard, played college basketball at Richmond before going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft. He joined the G League Ignite team for the 2021-2022 season but was later waived. The Hustle acquired his returning player rights in a trade with the Charge last season. Now, they have decided to trade those rights back to Cleveland in exchange for future considerations.

This move gives the Charge the opportunity to bring back a familiar face in Gilyard, who averaged 11.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game during his time with the team. Cleveland will now have the exclusive rights to negotiate a new contract with Gilyard and potentially add him to their roster for the upcoming season.

The Hustle, on the other hand, will receive future considerations from the Charge as part of the trade. This deal allows both teams to make strategic moves as they continue to build their rosters for the upcoming G League season.

Fans of the Charge will be eager to see if Gilyard will return to the team and make an impact on the court once again. Stay tuned for more updates as the G League season approaches.
