Lane Kiffin, the head coach of the University of Mississippi football team, has hired his brother Chris Kiffin as a player personnel analyst. This marks the fourth time the Kiffin brothers have worked together in their coaching careers. Chris Kiffin most recently served as the linebackers coach for the Houston Texans and previously worked for the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers.
Chris Kiffin has a history with Ole Miss, having previously worked as an assistant from 2012-2016 and as a graduate assistant in 2007. He also worked alongside his brother as the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Florida Atlantic, where he was a finalist for the prestigious Broyles Award in 2017.
The hiring of Chris Kiffin comes at a poignant time for the Kiffin family, as their father, Monte Kiffin, a longtime NFL and college assistant coach, passed away in July. Lane Kiffin expressed his excitement about having his brother on staff, stating that it was a decision they had previously discussed with their father.
The Rebels, ranked sixth in the nation, are set to kick off their season against Furman this Saturday. Lane Kiffin’s decision to bring his brother on board adds another familial element to Ole Miss football.
