Five companies have been awarded positions on a three-year, $25 million contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to assist in the rapid commercialization and scale of technologies funded by the agency. Capital Factory, CIMIT, FedTech, SRI International, and Wireless Research Center will serve as Commercial Accelerators, working with DARPA-funded companies to connect them to entrepreneurial talent and investor networks, provide mentoring, and develop strategies for quick scalability.
The goal of the contract is to overcome market inefficiencies and business risks that may hinder the deployment of technologies with significant national security impacts. DARPA received a total of 39 bids for the contract, ultimately choosing these five companies as prime contractors. Each company will play a crucial role in supporting early-stage technology companies in their development and growth.
By enlisting the expertise of these Commercial Accelerators, DARPA aims to streamline the process of bringing cutting-edge technologies to the forefront of economic and national security. With the support of these companies, DARPA-funded companies will have access to a wide range of resources and guidance necessary for success. This contract highlights the commitment of DARPA to fostering innovation within the military and ensuring that emerging technologies have the support needed to make a meaningful impact.
