Residents of Signal Mountain and surrounding areas are invited to celebrate the city’s designation as a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. The event, organized by the Signal Mountain Garden Club, will take place on this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Signal Mountain Town Hall.
The celebration will feature various activities for both children and adults to enjoy. Attendees can participate in guided nature walks, bird watching, and educational presentations on the importance of creating wildlife-friendly habitats. There will also be a butterfly release ceremony and a plant sale, where visitors can purchase native plants to attract wildlife to their own gardens.
The Signal Mountain Garden Club has been working diligently to transform public spaces on the mountain into thriving habitats for native plants and animals. Through their efforts, several parks and gardens in the area have become certified wildlife habitats, providing food, water, shelter, and nesting sites for local wildlife.
In addition to the celebration, the Signal Mountain Garden Club is also hosting a photo contest to showcase the beauty of the wildlife habitats in the area. Residents are encouraged to submit their photos of birds, butterflies, and other wildlife seen in their gardens or local parks for a chance to win a prize.
The event promises to be a fun and educational experience for all who attend. It is a great opportunity for residents to learn more about the importance of creating sustainable habitats for wildlife in their own backyards. So mark your calendars and come join the celebration of Signal Mountain’s wildlife habitat certification!
