Construction nearing completion at Carroll County Career and Technology Center, $74M project – Baltimore Sun

After more than four years of construction, the Carroll County Career and Technology Center is nearing completion. The $74 million project, funded by $34 million from Carroll County and nearly $40 million from the state, is set to finish before the start of the upcoming school year. The project has added 108,205 square feet of space to the facility, which first opened in 1971 and was designed for 380 students in 19 programs. Currently, the center educates about 800 students in 24 programs per semester.

Throughout the four-year phased construction project, instruction has continued at the center, according to a report presented to the county school board. Superintendent Cynthia McCabe noted that while the renovation will improve existing programs, it will not increase the school’s capacity to enroll more students.

Despite the challenges of the phased construction, the board of education and construction supervisor Jim Marks have successfully managed the project. Board member Donna Sivigny has expressed excitement over reaching this historic milestone in the center’s renovation.

As the school prepares to celebrate the completion of the project, Sivigny emphasized the significance of the milestone for the Carroll County Career and Technology Center. The renovation and expansion will bring the center up to modern standards and enhance the quality of education provided to students, setting the stage for a bright future for the institution.
