For AR Kids, a ballot question committee, is working to add the Educational Rights Amendment to the Arkansas state constitution. The initiative aims to provide additional educational services, hold private schools to the same standards as public schools if they accept vouchers, and ensure quality education for all students. The group is currently collecting signatures across the state to meet the required threshold by the July 5 deadline in order to be on the November ballot.
With over 60,000 signatures collected so far and 40 counties meeting the minimum requirement, For AR Kids is confident they can reach their goal. Despite facing well-funded opposition, the group, made up of volunteers on a limited budget, is dedicated to their cause. They are looking for support from the community to help them gather the remaining signatures needed.
If successful, the amendment would guarantee access to pre-K, quality special education, afterschool and summer programs for low-income children, and establish minimum quality standards for all schools receiving public funds. For AR Kids emphasizes the importance of providing quality education for Arkansas children and believes this amendment is a step in the right direction. They urge the public to participate and support their efforts in these final days leading up to the deadline.
