Two Georgia firefighters, Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander, who went missing late last month were discovered dead in Cocke County, Tennessee. Their bodies were found inside Anderson’s vehicle, and the cause and manner of death are still under investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The Liberty County Fire Department expressed deep sorrow over the loss of two dedicated employees who served their community with passion.
The Hinesville Police Department had posted information about the missing firefighters last week, including a photo of Anderson’s vehicle, a black 2017 Ford Focus. Anderson was last seen on June 25 at the Liberty County Fire Services Station #1, and it is believed that Kuhbander may have been with her at the time. Kuhbander’s vehicle was found in Savannah, Georgia, while Anderson’s vehicle was located in Richmond Hill, Georgia before being discovered in Tennessee.
The families of Anderson and Kuhbander are in the thoughts and prayers of the Liberty County Fire Department during this difficult time. The investigation is ongoing, with TBI agents working alongside the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic deaths of the two firefighters. Cocke County, Tennessee is about 400 miles north of Midway, Georgia where the firefighters were based.
