Sheriff’s Office and Capitol Police Plan Safety Operation for July 4th

Hinds County Sheriff’s Office and Capitol police launch “4th of July Holiday Blitz” to enhance safety during the holiday weekend. The operation will involve saturation patrols and traffic safety checkpoints to target impaired drivers and enforce traffic laws. Sheriff Tyree Jones urges residents to celebrate safely by designating a sober driver and buckling up. The operation will run from July 3 to 7. The goal is to promote responsible celebrations and prevent criminal activity during the busy holiday travel season. Residents are encouraged to participate in fireworks shows and other activities that celebrate Independence Day. The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is prepared to boost their patrols and increase the number of deputies on the roads to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for all.
