The Arkansas Community Foundation (ARCF) has established the Fordyce Survivors Fund in response to the mass shooting that took place on June 21 in Fordyce, Arkansas. The fund will provide financial support for survivors of the shooting, where a lone gunman killed four and injured 12 at a grocery store. The suspect, Travis Eugene Posey, has been charged with multiple counts of murder and attempted murder.
Heather Larkin, president and CEO of Arkansas Community Foundation, expressed shock and sadness at the tragedy and highlighted the organization’s experience in helping communities recover from disasters. State Sen. Matt Stone also expressed his sorrow over the violence and emphasized the community’s determination to support Fordyce in its healing and recovery.
Donations to the Fordyce Survivors Fund can be made online or by mail, with 100% of the donations going towards supporting victims. The Community Foundation will work with local leadership and organizations like Victim’s First and the Mass Violence Survivor’s Fund to ensure transparent and victim-centered management of funds.
The Foundation has waived its administrative fees for the fund, and donations made by credit card will have a 3% fee applied. With the support of the community, organizations, and donors, the Fordyce Survivors Fund aims to provide much-needed financial assistance to those affected by the tragic event.
