Mississippi State University is making significant progress on various construction projects on campus this summer, with the goal of improving infrastructure and enhancing the student experience. Saunders Ramsey, the executive director of MSU’s Campus Services, highlighted the importance of these projects in creating a vibrant and conducive learning environment for students.
One of the major projects currently underway is the Bost Drive extension, a phase of a larger $50 million project that aims to expand the College of Architecture, Art, and Design on campus. The extension will connect to College View Drive and create a new entrance to campus. Additionally, a $2.5 million renovation of the Sanderson Center, the university’s recreation facility, is expected to be completed by August.
The construction of Azalea Hall, a new residence hall with 400 bedspaces, is well underway and on track to open in August 2025. This $100 million facility will provide students with private living quarters, social areas, and new dining options. Another student-centered project, the Randy J. Cleveland Engineering Student Center, is scheduled to open in spring 2025 and will provide modernized spaces for collaboration and learning for engineering students.
Other projects include the construction of the Jim and Thomas Duff Center, renovation of the historic Perry Cafeteria, and interior renovations of Hathorn Hall. A new parking lot with additional spaces is also being constructed. Despite the ongoing construction, MSU is committed to providing a quality experience for students both on and off-campus. More information about these projects can be found on the university’s website.
