The American Journalism Project has partnered with JPMorganChase to support local news organizations across the United States. This collaboration will involve funding for national efforts to rebuild local news, as well as sponsoring eight nonprofit newsrooms nationwide. JPMorganChase will provide ongoing financial health content, organize local events, and offer tailored expertise to help these news organizations meet their business goals.
This partnership represents the first time the American Journalism Project is working with a financial services firm. According to Sarabeth Berman, CEO of the American Journalism Project, this commitment from JPMorganChase demonstrates the integral role that corporations can play in supporting local news and strengthening communities through independent journalism.
JPMorganChase will work directly with local nonprofit news organizations in the American Journalism Project’s portfolio, including news outlets like THE CITY in New York, Block Club Chicago, and Mississippi Today. Warwick Sabin, President and CEO of Deep South Today, expressed gratitude for the partnership with JPMorganChase and highlighted the importance of delivering essential local news to communities.
The American Journalism Project is a leading venture philanthropy focused on addressing the market failure in local news. Founded in 2019, AJP has raised $175M to support nonprofit local news organizations across the country. JPMorganChase, a prominent financial services firm, is committed to supporting local journalism, and this collaboration with AJP is part of its broader efforts to invest in communities.
