18th Annual Community Picnic Hosted by Temple Baptist Church


Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has been a popular Fourth of July destination for the past 18 years. The church recently hosted a weekend full of celebrations, culminating in a fireworks show that drew in about 6,000 attendees. The event featured live music, games, an antique car show, and a new addition this year, pickleball.

Beth McDaniel, the church’s Hospitality and Humanities coordinator, highlighted the event as a unique opportunity for outreach, connecting with people who may not typically visit the church. Many attendees appreciated the safe and affordable entertainment that the event provided for their families and community.

Frank James emphasized the importance of community cohesion and camaraderie, showing his support for events like the Community Picnic at Temple Baptist. Others, like Bethany Madden, were excited to experience the event for the first time and share it with their loved ones.

Despite some rainy weather, Temple Baptist saved the best for last with a spectacular fireworks display to close out the festivities. The event was a success, bringing people together and creating lasting memories for those in attendance.
